To Wig Or Not To Wig

Almost all negativity about wearing a wig comes from people who have never actually worn a wig. The amazing thing is, more and more women are wearings wigs, or hair additions, each year. But, we don’t talk about it enough! Let’s start with some myths and rumours about wearing wigs.

  1. Wigs can fall off
This is true, but only if you don’t attach it correctly.
  2. Wigs don’t look natural
Taking care of your wig is the only way to keep your wig looking natural – the aftercare is vital to keeping your wig in great condition and we guide you every step of the way on this.
  3. People will know you’re wearing a synthetic wig
This is far from the truth. The right consultation includes understanding your colouring, the style of your hair and your natural look. If this is done correctly, no-one will know you’re wearing a wig.

It’s time for people who wear wigs to have a say in the to-wear-a-wig-or-not-to-wear-a-wig conversation. Here are some reasons to love wearing wigs.

  1. Wearing wigs saves you money
Before you go crazy on this one in the comments, hear us out. We know what you’re thinking, “Wigs are expensive! What do you mean wearing them will save me money?” And, you’re right, wigs can be expensive but it depends on whether you choose synthetic or human hair wigs – there’s a big price difference. But, do you know what’s even more expensive? Salon visits. Short hairstyles need to be recut or trimmed every 4 – 8 weeks, medium or longer styles every 8 – 12 weeks. Add that on top of what it costs to have your hair smoothed, curled, colour-treated, or blown out and maintaining a natural hairstyle can cost hundreds, if not thousands a year.
Wigs, in contrast, only need to be replaced every six to twelve months (depending on the quality of the wig and how well you take care of it). Since most wigs come pre-styled, all you’ll need to hold the style is some wig shampoo and conditioner, and a wig stand.

It might seem like having a natural style is less expensive when you look at the upfront cost of wearing a wig, yet over time wearing wigs costs significantly less.
  2. Wigs let you change your style whenever you want
Have you ever wondered how your favourite celebrity goes from a bob one day to waist-length waves the next? It’s not a magic trick or miracle grow. It’s wigs.
  3. Lots and lots of different length wigs.
If you’re non-committal about your style or like changing things up, wigs are the way to go. Wigs let you try out as many new styles as you want, whenever you want, without damaging your natural hair.
If you like to switch up your style, or if you want to roadtest a new look before committing to it, try a wig!
